Is sugaring safe for sensitive skin or allergies?
Yes. Sugaring is ideal for sensitive skin and clients with allergies. The sugar paste contains only sugar, lemon, and water — no resins, preservatives, fragrances, or petroleum products. All products used during and after treatment here are 100% natural.
Can sugaring cause ingrown hairs?
Sugaring generally results in fewer ingrown hairs compared to waxing. Because hair is removed in the direction of growth and with less breakage, the hair is more likely to grow back cleanly through the skin. Many clients notice an improvement in ingrown hairs over time with regular sugaring.
How often should I sugar?
Most clients schedule sugaring appointments every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the area being treated and their individual hair growth cycle.
Regular sugaring makes the appointment more comfortable as not all of the hairs have grown back.
Is sugaring safe during pregnancy?
Sugaring is generally safe during pregnancy, but sensitivity may be increased due to hormonal changes. Please let me know if you are pregnant so we can ensure your comfort throughout the treatment.
I’ve never been sugared. What can I expect?
First the skin will be cleansed and powdered using all natural products. The sugar paste is applied at body temperature using a gloved hand and removed in the natural direction of hair growth which helps reduce ingrown hairs. After sugaring, you will be given a warm cloth to remove any sugar that may be on your skin. A selection of complimentary soothing all natural products will be offered for your use before you leave. Those with sensitive skin may experience mild redness.
Does sugaring hurt?
Most clients find sugaring more comfortable than waxing. Sugar paste does not stick to live skin cells the way wax does, which reduces skin irritation. Hair is also removed in the natural direction of growth, resulting in less pulling, less breakage, and less discomfort — especially for sensitive areas like Brazilians and underarms. But we are still removing hairs by the root so some discomfort is to be expected.
How long does my hair need to be to be sugared?
For best results, hair should be approximately ¼ inch or 1cm long.
If the hair is too short, the sugar paste may not be able to grip it properly. If it’s much longer, sugaring can still be performed, but careful trimming beforehand will make the treatment more comfortable. If you’re unsure about hair length, feel free to contact me before your appointment. If you have been shaving, the correct length will be 2-3 weeks after your last shave.
How long do sugaring results last?
After sugaring, hair typically does not return to the surface for at least 2 weeks, and many hairs may not grow back for 4–6 weeks or longer due to natural hair growth cycles.
Why does some hair grow back sooner than other hair?
Hair grows in cycles, and not all hairs are active at the same time. If you have been shaving, multiple layers of hair growth may be present, which can cause some hairs to appear sooner. With regular sugaring, hair growth becomes more synchronized, finer, and slower over time.
What are the pre- and post-treatment instructions?
Before your appointment:
Avoid exfoliating or using retinol, acids, or any skincare products on the area for 48 hours
Avoid using lotions or oils on the area for 24 hours
After your appointment:
Avoid bacteria and extreme heat (ex. swimming pools, hot tubs, unclean bathtubs, saunas, intense exercise) for 24 hours
Do not sun tan or exfoliate for 48 hours
Wear loose, breathable clothing, especially after intimate sugaring
Gently exfoliate after 48 hours to help prevent ingrown hairs
Full aftercare instructions will be reviewed with you so you feel confident caring for your skin between appointments.
Is there any reason I should not sugar?
Sugaring is safe for most people, but it is not recommended if you have open wounds, active skin infections, sunburn, or certain skin conditions in the area being treated. Some medications or topical products (like retinoids, prescription acne treatments, or recent chemical peels) can make the skin too sensitive for sugaring.
For women: if you are pregnant or within 3 days before or after your menstrual cycle, you may feel increased discomfort.
If you are unsure whether sugaring is right for you, please contact me before your appointment to discuss your situation.

IPL Photofacial and Pigmentation FAQs
Am I a good candidate for an IPL photofacial?
IPL photofacials are suitable for many people with sun damage or pigmentation concerns, but are not recommended for skin types 5 and 6 due to higher melanin levels. A consultation and skin assessment are required to confirm suitability.
What is the difference between an IPL photofacial and pigmentation spot removal?
An IPL photofacial treats larger areas of uneven tone and fine lines, while pigmentation spot removal targets individual, stubborn dark spots. Some clients benefit from using both together.
Is IPL photofacial and pigmentation removal safe?
Yes. IPL is considered safe when performed with proper skin typing, conservative settings, and test patches. Treatment settings are customized based on your skin and how it responds.
How many IPL or pigmentation treatments will I need?
Most clients require 4–6 IPL photofacial treatments, spaced 3–4 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. Pigmentation spot removal typically requires 1–3 treatments, depending on how deep and stubborn the pigment is.
When will I see results from IPL photofacial or pigmentation removal?
Some improvement may be noticeable after the first treatment, with continued improvement over time as the skin responds to treatment.
Do I need a consultation before IPL photofacial or pigmentation removal?
Yes. A free consultation and test patch are required prior to treatment to ensure the safest and most effective settings for your skin.
